A straightforward, non-judgemental space for men wanting to better understand themselves, their relationships and what's happening beneath the surface.

Hi, I'm Andrew.

I'm a counsellor and psychotherapist specialising in men's and couples therapy in Geelong.

I believe good therapy starts with feeling understood. My approach is calm, straightforward and collaborative. Rather than judging who's right or wrong, I'm interested in helping people understand what's happening beneath the surface and what might help things change.

I hold a Master of Counselling and Psychotherapy and Graduate Diploma of Counselling and am registered with PACFA. My work with couples is informed by Gottman Method, attachment and emotion-focused approaches.

Getting married

Prepare for the marriage, not only the wedding.

Explore communication, conflict, emotional connection, money, intimacy, family, children, expectations and the kind of marriage you want to create.

Relationships are worth preparing for.

We prepare for careers, homes, weddings and families. But we're rarely taught how to prepare for the relationship at the centre of them.

Major relationship transitions bring new questions and expectations. Moving in together changes how you share money, responsibilities, space and everyday life. Marriage raises questions about commitment, family, intimacy, values and the future you're building together.

Relationship preparation gives you space to have those conversations deliberately — before difficulties become established patterns.

Moving in together

Sharing a home changes more than your address.

Explore money, responsibilities, independence, family, sex, conflict and what living together means for the future of your relationship.

When something between you isn't working

You can love each other and still become stuck. Conflict can become repetitive. One person pursues while the other withdraws. Conversations become defensive or go nowhere. Sex and affection change. Trust can be damaged. Sometimes couples simply realise they no longer feel as close as they once did.

Couples counselling creates space to slow the pattern down and understand what's happening between you — and what's happening underneath it. At Terrain, couples work draws on established approaches including the Gottman Method, attachment theory and emotion-focused approaches.

Counselling for men

You don't have to have everything figured out before you talk about it.

For many men, struggling doesn't necessarily look like a mental health crisis.

It can look like withdrawing from your partner. Losing patience. Overthinking. Feeling responsible for everyone. Working harder. Feeling disconnected. Not knowing what you feel. Or knowing something isn't right but not knowing what to call it.

Counselling gives you somewhere to slow things down, understand what's happening and work out what you want to do next.

Ready to start a conversation?

You don't need to know exactly what you need before getting in touch.

Whether you're preparing for an important next step, concerned about your relationship or looking for support for yourself, tell me a little about what's happening and we can work out whether Terrain is the right fit.
